Hall, CEO/Owner/Founder Steve Hall, CEO, Superior Drivers Institute, is a Nashville,
Tennessee native and a graduate of the University of
Tennessee in Knoxville. Hall served four years
in the United States Army. He held the rank of
Captain as a Special Agent in Counterintelligence. After
military service, Hall was a national industrial plant
recruiter for the Tennessee Department of Economic Development
for one year.
He then began his 33 year career as a commercial real
estate broker and developer. Initially he was the exclusive
agent for the 1,200 acre Interchange City Industrial
Park in Nashville. Hall built his first building,
a 43,000 square foot distribution center, for the Kirkhill
Company of Downey, California in Interchange City in
1976. That same year he developed the Butler Drive
Industrial Park in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and a 50,000
square foot manufacturing plant there for Goodman Conveyor
of Chicago, Illinois. He also built a 100,000 square
foot center for the Spicer Transmission Division of the
Dana Corporation in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1982.
In 1984, Hall built and leased to the Dana Corporation
the Truck Terminal and 10 acre site. Later, it became the
new headquarters for Superior Drivers Institute (SDI),
a truck driver training school in Columbia, Tennessee, and other business entities.
During his 33 year career as a commercial real estate
broker, Hall has sold and/or developed properties in
Kentucky, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
He has also served as the Middle Tennessee Director
of the Tennessee Industrial Development Council and as
a member of the advisory board of the Nashville State
Technical Institute (now Nashville State Technical College). He
was one of the original eight founders and directors
of Franklin National Bank in Franklin, Tennessee. He
and two others also founded the Visionary Lighting and
Display Manufacturing Company in Annapolis, Maryland.
Hall has had experience in education prior to opening
the Superior Drivers Institute, a truck driver training
school. He held a permanent teaching certificate
in Tennessee having student taught at Red Bank High School
in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For several years, he
served as a guest lecturer to the Graduate School of
Engineering at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He
was an advisor to the Masters Degree Program at Chiang
Mai University in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Hall is
also a graduate of the Institute for International Studies
in Tokyo, Japan.
During his career Hall has sold and/or developed over
2,000,000 square feet of industrial buildings while working
with national and international firms. He has also
developed condominiums, apartments and shopping centers.
